Yes, though I don't think of them as lingering spirits so much as echoes. I think that the presence of a human being and our own intrinsic electromagnetic fields can create imprints on the spectrum of the world around us. As such, when someone sees a ghost, they are seeing an echo of someone previously in that spot, whether that person is now alive or dead. I think that's why when people claim to have seen ghosts they're often doing something mundane like having a walk, or like, cleaning dishes or something; you're seeing echoes of past actions.
